NEW YORK , NY, July 14, 2008: VS-Planet, an International on-line virtual music community and a subsidiary of Virtual Studio Systems, Inc., the makers of Lyricist and Tracknotes, is proud to announce that VS-Planet Radio (VSPR), its Independent Internet radio station, has joined the podcast revolution featuring radio shows that showcase the Independent Premium Artists of the VS-Planet community. VS-Planet has kick things off by rolling out two (2) podcasts (Hot Tracks and Mixed Bag) now available for download from VSPR’s podcast blog located at http://vsplanet.libsyn.com/ and/or subscription via it’s RSS syndication site located at http://feeds.feedburner.com/VSPRpodcasts. The podcasts can also be downloaded and subscribed from i-Tunes by typing VSPR in the search engine or using the RSS Syndication Site.

Hot Tracks (Top 10 Rated Tracks) will be updated bi-monthly based on the Top 40 VSPR Charts published on the VS-Planet website. The Mixed Bag podcast will be a one (1) hour compilation of VSPR hits spun from the the Independent Artist Community spanning from 2003 through the present. The Mixed Bag podcast will updated at a minimum frequency of one time per month. VS-Planet’s target listeners are music enthusiasts including other radio stations (Internet/Satellite), Independent labels, record producers, and general listeners.

Podcasting is a method of distributing content over the Internet. An audio podcast is similar to a radio broadcast, except listeners don't have to tune in at a particular time to hear each show. Instead, they subscribe to a podcast and automatically receive a downloaded copy of each new episode after it's published by the podcaster (the company or person who created the podcast). Subscribers can listen to a podcast through their computer or through an MP3 player such as an iPod, whenever they choose. Podasts have become more popular in recent years due to their convenience and their price - nearly all podcasts are free.
